WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 - Ten major companies with operations across the
economy - utilities, manufacturing, petroleum, chemicals and
financial services - have banded together with leading environmental
groups to call for a firm nationwide limit on carbon dioxide emissions
that would lead to reductions of 10 to 30 percent over the next 15
years.

Introduction of this group, which includes industry giants like General
Electric, DuPont and Alcoa, is aimed at adding to the recent impetus
for Congressional action on emissions controls and the creation of a
market in which allowances to emit carbon dioxide could be traded in a
way that achieves the greatest reduction at the lowest cost...

In other words, if you can't stop the theft, at least get a piece of the
action.

I'm sure that GE would like more Nuclear Power stations. So would I.

Me too. So why not just let them build them?

If such a group were formed to oppose the CO2 limits, there would be howls
of outrage.

Sounds like submission to world socialists trying to
create a way to extort money by selling or trading emission
credits.
Who are the brains that will be allocating the emission
allowances and credits?

The US has already made a 30 percent reduction in
emissions from coal, will any part of that be considered?

Why do some people want to get money without
earning it?
Any big company could do more to reduce emissions
by producing and selling energy efficient technologies and
alternate energy devices, but far too many people are into
designing, patenting, and licensing, with no product, and
no production.

Cooperation of everybody in controlling emissions
would happen quicker if more specific evidence of CO2
having more of an effect on global temperatures than
water vapor.
Local temperatures are greatly affected by clouds
at night and sunny days, plus instant changes in local
temperature by local rain of as much as 10 degrees F
in a matter of seconds or minutes.

This scheme of emission allocations and credits
represents the biggest attack in history on national
sovereignty.

Rules and laws are ineffective unless they can
be enforced equally and completely. This scheme
will obviously benefit and may have been devised by
those who have no intention of abiding.

And there are far more immediate and more
serious problems facing the world than global warming,
by no cooperation at all on most of them.

Thanks for the post. The Wall Street Journal for Jan. 19 has a short
article on this subject, too.

Interestingly enough, DUKE POWER -- a North Carolina utility company,
and one with extensive investments in coal, as well as nuclear power --
seems to be one of the 10 companies who are promoting this initiative.

Alcoa, meanwhile, is an enormous consumer of electric power -- the
smelting of aluminum is just amazingly energy-intensive.

So some of the capitalist industries closest to the energy business --
a few, anyway -- are now trying to look forward to how they can adapt
to a more climate-friendly future, and to ways in which the government
can make it easier and less risky for companies and individuals to
invest in it.

A good sign!

Right, they want to profit from being Green, as does GE (they set up a
Green subsidiary, and they sell nuke plants).

Capitalists are notorious cowards. They will do and say anything for a buck.
I used to think Hitler was wrong about them but then realized he was right,
as usual.

Capitalist plantation owners brought us the nigger plague. Today's
capitalists are behind the spic invasion. And they all whole-heartedly
embrace race and gender quotas.

Don't get me wrong. I think we need capitalists. But we have to keep them on
a leash like the Chinese do and the fascists did before them.

I heard on Neil Bortz the other day that every individual airline
passenger's trip is responsible for as much exhaust emmissions as
driving a SUV for 30 days.
If you remember the Scientist were stunned by the reduction in pollution
and haze after 9/11 because all aircraft were grounded. The little
blurbs didn't last long. The Airline Industry and govt killed the leads.
It would be common sense to bring about policies for more RXR high speed
mass transit and at least cut some of the fuel guzzling and hugely
polluting jets.
But all we hear is cut the emissions and size of cars from the Enviros.

It is a lot more than that, a simple thing like a water
heaters powered by heat pumps would add a lot of options,
especially in moderate climates.

There are dozens if not hundreds of supposedly
new technologies that are being perpetually tested, but
the big companies have always had a "not invented here"
mentality, they don't want to pay a reasonable price for
intellectual property, and the owners of the property are
usually expecting far too much.

The big discount stores have pretty much taken
all the business with junk made in Asia, the birth rates
from 1973 on has triple decimated the available labor
force in the US, and the effect of any minimum wage
legislation will be that every worker will expect a raise
equal to the increase, and more people will become
homeless, while Asia increases CO2 emissions.

Southern California is freezing, that must be
one of those bad side effects of global warming.

Joe Fischer
Does heat & physical law drive ALL WEATHER, including winter, Sociopath
Joe Fischer, or is it Leprechans flying out of Jesus YHVH's Ass?

Make up your mind and tell the public where you stand, Sociopath Joe
Fischer.

Science explains freezing cold very well with no help from Jesus's
hemorrhoids. Science knows how to make refrigerators, freezers, even
solid CO2 and liquid air. IN EVERY SINGLE CASE it uses expanding gases.

Nature does the same thing.

What hit California and the midwest used to be called Hurricane IOKE
last August.

First Law of Conservation of Energy: Energy is neither created and
destroyed. IOKE was not destroyed. It was tracked on satellites, much
too big to hide under some republican cocksucking rightwinger rug. As
the masses of tropical heat-laden clouds were photographed passing
north over Alaska the heavy rains were recorded ant many weather
stations down on the ground. We saved both the satpix and the
temperature readings: 59 degrees F.

Next we recorded a 38,000 square mile PERMANENT ICE melt 10 feet thick
in the Beaufort Sea.

Sociopath Joe Fischer, with Exxon's dick in his mouth, do you believe
in science? Do you believe that it take 79 calories to melt on wee
little gram of ice? Do you believe that the latent heat of fusion in
that ice melt stored 27,000,000 tons of TNT explosive energy in the
Beaufort Sea?

Do you think that 27 megatons of energy was destroyed, dicksucker?

Now that 27,000,000 tons of TNT explosive heat energy is being
released from guess where? Can you say "Beaufort Sea" boys and girls? I
know you can.

That energy is changed. It's not 59 degrees anymore, is it? But even at
zero, even below zero, calories are still calories, and are not
destroyed. In order to freeze water MUST release 79 frozen calories per
gram, at zero degrees temperature celsius. That energy is now expansion
energy, Sociopath Joe Fischer, and where do you think ground zero on
the coldest spot in the world is Sociopath Joe Fischer?
Correctamundo!!! You are correct sir, the Beaufort Sea.

How do we know that is the exact spot the cold is coming from? Well
because we turn to http:wunderground.com and look at their temperature
maps for the arctic circle. See how easy science is in the 21st
century, Sociopath Joe Fischer?

Because the world turns there is an eastwards torque on air masses
coming out of the Arctic. You can animate these maps over days and
watch the hurricane IOKE pulse cold waves out from the Beaufort Sea
area.

http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/CN/2xTemperature.html
http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/EU/2xTemperature.html
http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/AS/2xTemperature.html

You can also see that the warmest part of the Arctic circle is the part
farthest away from the Beaufort Sea across the top of the world.

Now where do you stand in the face of clear unambiguous evidence:
Science? Or Jesus's Asshole, asshole?

Maybe that will offset the 150 or so new coal powered electricity
plants which will spew omission with little or no controls. TXU has 11
of them on the drawing board and ready to go in Texas. Coincidentally
a group of TXU and other coal industry interests donated $130,000 to
Texas Gov. Perry's reelection campaign. Coincidentally Perry earlier
fast-tracked the new plants which will circumvent any type of
environmental issues. Dickie-boy Cheney called for an additional 1900
of these ecological disasters as part of his energy policy. So we'll
all be nice and warm in our climate controlled homes but just don't go
outside. Sheesh!

That's odd because the idea comes directly from planetary impact studies
which looked at the impact of small asteroids on the planet's climate and
biosphere with the obvious parallels to a nuclear exchange giving rise to
the same questions and similar answers.

Try this one. For every molecule of C02 we produce combines one carbon
atom with 2 oxygen atoms, hence C02. Is the 02 or oxygen levels
decreasing at double the rate of C02 production? Did they bother to
check. Well, it's not.

If it is true and there is data to support it, it
is very interesting, as most fuels don't contain much
oxygen (ethanol contains some, and that may be
part of the reason it doesn't produce the BTU / pound
of gasoline or kerosene.

And even though there is many times the oxygen
needed to combine all carbon on Earth, the proportion
of nitrogen to oxygen should be changing some, but
there must be a lot of nitrogen.

And there doesn't seem to be any great effect
of increased water vapor from burning fuels containing
hydrogen, possibly because there is such a large
change in water vapor taking place regularly from
natural evaporation and precipitation.

It seems very clear that hurricanes are almost
necessary to remove heat from the oceans and to
transport that heat to the upper atmosphere, even
though hurricanes can cause damage and injury.

The next ten years will be crucial to opinion
on the matter of energy availability and climate
effects, and a serious attempt to change to alternate
energy sources should continue.
But preventing people from freezing or starving
should be the number one priority.

At what rate are the atmospheric oxygen levels
decreasing?

Yes, and some people have a purpose in live other
than writing one line clueless insults.

The whole thing about global warming is study of
the atmosphere, look up study if you don't know what it
means.

Somebody said that the majority of global warming
believers simply repeat what they hear and read, but there
are people, both believers and skeptics that study to gain
knowledge about the matter.
Atmospheric chemistry is complex, as nicely
illustrated in the graphic;

Of course, I don't expect any 3 year old readers
to comprehend what I say. :-)

I have built houses and garages, and remodeled,
and done the wiring, plumbing, heating, masonry work,
and designed what I do.
I am very comfortable with what I do, and what
I know, and being a slow learner and feeling dumber
is an advantage, it helps prevent being a smart-ass.

Hmmmm, I guess calculators are banned by the Department of Homeland
Security, so you can't do the math with them, and I guess pencils are
too, so that settles it.

Kansas Educated Doctor Of Creationotastic Sciencish Stuff Uses His Best
Argument.

CO2 starts out 4000 molecules to every Ozone molecule in the Ozone
Layer, goes to 5,000 molecules by man-made pollution. Somehow a change
of 5% of the ozene is life threatening to the world but a change of 20%
ratio CO2 to O3 has no effect, Doctor?

Try this math and see if you can do it in yer head, Doctor Ass-Lick...

CO2 is 0.003% of the air. If it doubled to 0.006% than,

Oxygen ats 19.999% of the air would go to 19.993%

Is that pretty much what your Kansas Creationist U labouritory found by
measuring, Doctor?

The Grand Banks offshore from 36 to 180 meters deep were once the
shoreline. That goes to show that an awful lot of glacier melt occured
long before mankind came along to fuck things up.
All mankind's pollution has caused comparatively no environmental damage
at all. NONE AT ALL! We know much lies and manipulation is going on and
growing.
Yup - and dinosaurs once ruled the earth, and there was an ocean where
Nevada and Utah are situated. Man has caused little environmental
damage? You mean little things like water pollution and air pollution
- two thing necessary for life to exist. Yup - man has been a boon to
his environment. And as for the Grand Banks - you do realize that the
continents have moved and/or split dramatically over the eons.

Compared to habitat distruction, and simple mass slaughter you are correct.

You know, things like 90% of all large fish missing from the ocean, massive
coral dieoffs due to warmer waters, 40% of the U.S. songbird population
being wiped out, etc. etc. etc...
